AUSTRLIANA PIONEER VILLAGE

The Australiana Pioneer Village will absorb you into the atmosphere and activities of life over 100 years ago. It’s a total experience – sights, sounds and aromas of the past. PENRITH WHITEWATER STADIUM

Penrith Whitewater Stadium was the competition venue for the canoe/kayak slalom events during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Located only 20 minutes from Richmond, it is the only man-made whitewater course of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Penrith Whitewater is available from September to June for guided whitewater rafting, self-guided whitewater rafting, whitewater kayaking and kayak instruction, all of which may be arranged by prior booking. Other facilities include beach volleyball court and Cafe. 14,000 litres per second of raging whitewater flowing over a moveable obstacle system has proven to be a challenging and exciting ride even for the best paddlers in the world.

 

TIZZANA WINERY

Nestled in a valley on the Hawkesbury River, just over an hour from Sydney, National Trust listed Tizzana Winery is one of the Windsor district’s outstanding buildings (c1887). Located on the doorstep of Sydney and within easy reach of the famous Greater Blue Mountains world heritage listed area and the magnificent Wollemi wilderness. Offering a complete agritourism experience, Tizzana has its own vineyard and olive grove, and offers the discerning traveler a rewarding mix of locally produced wine and food.

 

RICHMOND GOOD FOOD MARKET

Richmond Good Food Market is a place for local farmers and quality food producers to showcase their wares and interact with the community. Food grown and produced in and around the Hawkesbury region is some of the finest in the country. Since local foods do not travel far, they can be picked when ripe and most flavourful. Fresh is best. Fresh and local is even better! Held every Saturday between 8am and 1pm at Richmond Park.

 

HAWKESBURY PADDLEWHEELER

 

The paddlewheeler has been operating for many years from historic Windsor, which is located at the end of the Windsor Road just in the foot hills of the Blue Mountains on one of the oldest waterways in Australia. You can go on an unforgettable journey recreating cruises back in the 1800’s. While enjoying the peace and tranquility of the Hawkesbury River you can indulge in a first class meal, always being freshly prepared on board.

Morning Cruise tea and lunch 10.30am to 2pm – 3½ hours per pass. Lunch Cruise 12 to 2pm – 2 hours per pass. Day cruises Bingo raffles prizes (weekdays) 12 to 2.30 – 2½ hours per pass. Cruise every Sunday leaves at 12.30 for a 2 hour cruise along the Hawkesbury River. Serves a BBQ lunch while the resident Jazz Band perform songs from their wide range of music.
